Five Long Years...

Damn, its hard to believe that its been five years since this happened. Hard to believe many people feel no safer today than they felt five years ago. I'm neither anti- or pro- American. Dont get me wrong, this was a terrible tragedy. It was a completely uncalled for series of events planned by Muslim extremists who, quite frankly, cheated us all out of true justice by going down with these planes. If you havent been to the Ground Zero site, you really do not grasp the magnitude, the exponential size of the destruction. I had the opportunity to visit the site last year during a brief trip to NYC. It really is a sobering experience. I really couldnt have imagined seeing it in person with all the debris still in there after it happened.
And so it goes. Its of course a day to be remembered. I guess all I really want to say about it, avoiding as much political bullshit as possible, is this: Kudos to the people of NYC, who showed tremendous strength and perseverence in such a traumatic time. Kudos to the FDNY and the NYPD, for their incredible bravery. Kudos to Mayor Rudy, who did an amazing job during such tragedy. And finally, kudos to all Americans, who for a brief time stood together across all political, racial, and social lines. It was a united country for a while. What a concept.
